Cheshil.com started in Early to Mid-August 2003, launching earnestly, with no information.
In between the site's official launch and the official birth, the forum opened. It was on Saturday, September 13th, 2003, the forums originally opened.
The official launch of the site occured October 12th of 2003, and it existed in many iterations to this day.
The forum relaunched on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009 and the site began another overhaul on Monday, July 6th, 2009.
There exist several "versions" of Cheshil.com, referring to the layout used. The original launch had no name, and either did the second (and more familiar) layout. Cheshil.com launched a drastic overhaul with CCOM3, a variation of which is used today. While originally launched with a white background, CCOM3.1 added the familiar gradient to the site's background. Currently, the site layout is termed CCOM3.2.
However, between CCOM3.1 lies CCOM4 and A New Launch. CCOM4 was based on Wordpress and featured several different layouts. A New Launch (ANL) was the work-in-progress layout created in Summer 2007, but never put into use.
Features & Milestones
The site's comics launched the second of May 2004, with the first Mission: Nothing! comic. This feature didn't last long, closing July 23rd, 2004.
Another loss of a feature on Cheshil occured on July 28th, 2004... The usergroups, the original feature of the forums were deleted. 'Twas a sad day.
Another milestone reached was 50,000 posts at the forum on the 9th of May, 2004, which was just under 8 months in the forum's lifespan.
The first new content since 2008 was uploaded on July 6th, 2009 - the first Campaign (War) Report.
